A blend of grapes from different vineyard sites: 70% from the Simonsberg and Helderberg regions in Stellenbosch and 30% from the cooler slopes in the coastal region (Paardeberg in Paarl); here the grapes were left to hang longer. The fruit was treated differently in the winery with the cooler-climate fruit undergoing more regular pumping over; the wine was aged for 16 months in second and third use French oak barrels. Shows blueberry and plum flavours with notes of mulberry, the tannins are ripe and well integrated and vanish velvety.
